A visual representation of how important the passport was to the employee

I remember I got my dream job once, and I was through the roof about it. Suddenly, I started handling communication really badly (something I’m usually pretty good at), and small issues at the workplace became huge dramas. Sadly, I wasn’t able to catch it on time, and I had to learn the lesson the hard way. Of course, it would’ve been helpful if my bosses had been a little more empathetic and let me get used to it until I stopped being so nervous and ruining everything, but they weren’t. Back then, I was in a pretty unstable period of my life (just moved out of my parents' house, first jobs), and I couldn’t handle everything; but hey! That experience taught me to value stability, to learn to be calm, to prioritize my dreams, and to seize my opportunities! So with time, I started to see that failed job as a success.

I know this is not exactly reassuring, but even if he is getting fired, with the right attitude and a little bit of luck, it can become a really valuable lesson. You can land an even better job opportunity in the future, for sure. I think he should try his best to lay his cards on the table for the manager and see if he can get a second chance. I don’t think he should surrender so fast. But if he doesn’t get that second chance, I would gather all the support system I had, try to work as hard as I can again in other jobs, and hang in until I get another dream one and never, EVER, waste the opportunity again.
