As a fellow Gen Z baby, I am very aware that our generation is both equally loved and hated by former generations. And sometimes I don't blame them. I was born in the 2000's so I feel like my credentials are halfway there when we're talking about how life was before technology took over us. Gen Z, in my humble opinion, and I know I probably sound biased, is kind of superior. We had kind-of technology free childhoods, and the moments where we did have, it, I dare to say it was the perfect amount a person needs. It was enough to document your childhood with very poor pixels, enough to be raised by our favorite tv shows and movies, enough to create cheap movies in the basements of our homes. And just enough to not melt our brains at the bare age of six. Life was good. So good.
Another beautiful thing we have, is our morals. I think that although Gen Z is pretty hated on for being a 'very sensitive generation' who 'doesn't tolerate any jokes', we truly set a bar for respect that probably our parents or grandparents didn't even realize it could exist. Social media is both a blessing and a curse, but if there is one thing it has given us, is a whole new form of communicating. Besides getting to connect with people from all over the world, which is stating the obvious; social media created a new way of speaking. Like a whole new language. It is common knowledge that social media's rhythm is fast and the information in which information stays upon time, is pretty short. With it's rapid timing, there is plenty of space and time for new terms and words to arrive. Memes get created out of 15 second videos, slang words come out of literally a TikTok comment section. The way we invent words out of the most irrelevant stuff is hilarious to me. And yes, some may say words don't make sense anymore, but I think there is something quite beautiful in having autonomy over our own language and humor, in a non-harmful way. So please enjoy these very Gen Z memes.
