Receptionist gets told off by boss for talking to employees for too long, so she stops greeting people altogether, forcing boss to admit: ‘[People] are concerned’

How important is it to be greeted by a friendly receptionist every time you arrive at a clinic?

Whether you are there for a dentist appointment, a therapy session, or even if you are the therapist yourself, it can make a huge difference to be greeted by a friendly face every time you arrive.

If you ask us, it should practically be a job requirement for a receptionist to be nice to the people who come in and talk to them. A kind greeting goes a long way, both for the clients who arrive and the people who work there, and you would be surprised at how big a difference that small gesture can make.

The receptionist who shared the story below knows exactly how important it is for her to be friendly to the workers who come in every day. She was told repeatedly how much they enjoy her cheerful attitude, and how much they hope she never loses her happy spirit. The only person who doesn't appreciate the friendly attitude is the receptionist's boss, who decided that the few minutes she spends talking to employees and clients are wasteful and should be devoted to actual work.

So, after the boss demanded to keep the small talk to a minimum, the receptionist had no choice but to do just that. Every time someone came in, she would do her job and get on with it, putting her head down and refusing to talk to others.

It wasn't long before the other employees became concerned. They couldn't understand what caused the massive shift in the receptionist's behavior, which led them to believe that something else was happening. Soon enough, they voiced their concerns to the receptionist's boss, who confronted her and realized this was all her fault.

That was when the boss finally understood just how important a friendly receptionist is to the office morale, and took back her previous demands to allow ensure people are concerned no longer.
