  • jerry111165 Look at your lease first and foremost.
  • skrimped I recently learned about this, it's because if he stays multiple nights for weeks / sometimes other qualifiers, in some states he legally becomes a tenant. This adds responsibility to you and the landlord. Then if you guys break up he can refuse to leave because

  • he's a tenant and then you have to collaborate with the landlord to evict him. It's a lot of headache that is helped by just getting him formally on the lease
  • BecGeoMom Is the Ring camera on *your* apartment? If so, reprogram that thing so the images don't go to his phone but to yours. Why does he have access to your Ring camera? I know he owns the place, but just like he can't come

  • ken120 Common to have restrictions on time a non tenant can stay. Check your lease for what your agreed to limit is.
  • LLcoolJthe 17th Our lease was 10 days out of the year. My boyfriend had to add me however lucky they did not raise the rent.

  • Not defending your landlord but people are extra cautious about anybody who can establish tenancy based on the amount of time they stay in a place. I know in NY you have to have stayed at a property for 30 consecutive days to be considered a tenant. In PA it's 15 days if somebody's lease is less than a year.
  • BeginnersDuck777 That's very stupid. I'm sorry your landlord is an a h le.

  • Darkstar32170 If you are gone from your apartment for more than 14 days out of a year will he reduce your rent?
  • No-Card2461 2-3 nights a week is a room mate in some folks eyes, the ring shot is "we are not going to argue about this, I have receipts"
  • PrettyLittleAccident This is (generally) legal. They do this so there isn't anyone not on the lease that may have a claim to residency at the premise, or so there isn't fraud if you get rental assistance. Add him or don't have him stay over any amount more than allowed by state law or your lease
