    Most people quit a job by sending a two-week notice and maybe crying a little in the parking lot. This guy invented a fiancée, a hometown, and a wedding that does not exist, and now he has three jobs, zero wives, and a boss who loves him too much to let him go

    This guy had the triple employment situation going pretty much fine. Three jobs with no overlap, light workloads, and enough calendar management to keep it all invisible is not even that unusual in the remote work era. Plenty of people run multiple gigs quietly and professionally. The difference is that those people quit cleanly when something better comes along. They do not develop emotional attachments that require them to fabricate a romantic partner.

    Father Figure boss didn't leave this situation any chance of working out in a sane way. Basically, a meant for derailment scenario from inception. When your boss believes in you so completely that he talks about your legacy after two months, quitting starts to feel less like a career decision and more like a betrayal. So instead of just saying he got a better offer like a normal person, the brain went looking for a reason that would feel more justified and landed on marriage, relocation, and family obligation, which is the kind of exit that sounds airtight until your boss responds by eliminating every reason you gave him to leave.

    The mask part is the funniest and most unhinged part of this entire situation. He did not just tell a lie and move on. He told a lie that now requires physical disguise in certain geographic areas of his own city. He is not avoiding an awkward conversation. He is avoiding visual recognition. That is a different category of problem.
