I wear glasses, and the story of my first time putting on glasses is really funny. At least for my mom, who laughs every time she tells it. Apparently, when I was little, I would sit really close to the TV while watching cartoons, so my mom eventually started suspecting something was off and took me to the eye doctor. Sure enough, it turned out I needed glasses.

We got home with my first pair of spectacles, and my mom turned on the TV. That was the true acid test. I was about five years old. After watching my favorite cartoon for a few minutes, I excitedly said, "Mom, look! The cartoons have faces!"

That's when she realized how blurry the world had been for me up to that moment. She felt so bad because she hadn't noticed sooner, but I was simply amazed that cartoon characters now came with facial features. I was like, when did we subscribe to premium, mom? I had been having a very different TV experience than everyone else.

After that, glasses became part of my life. Later on, I wore contact lenses for a long period of my life, and eventually I switched back to regular glasses. These days, I mostly need them when I'm using screens. Plus, I picked a cool frame, so I look kinda cute and smart.
