  • AITA for not wanting MY horse to be used in lessons at my yard?

I (F) have two horses that both stay at the riding school I go to. I recently got a new rescue horse and she is my whole world right now. Me and my mum were talking about her today and she said that once I've gotten Daisy (my new horse) more broken in and settled, my instructors are going to use her in lessons.
  • This makes me really uncomfortable and upset and I tried to explain that to my mum, but she always shuts down a negative opinion I give her and after goes on with a conversation like we didn't have any argument at all, which really annoys me because she never listens to my opinions and I'm getting sick of it.

  • I've had my Queenie (my pony) for 6 years now. She gets used at lessons and kids love her, but since so many other people ride her, she doesn't really feel like MY horse.
  • When I got Daisy I was over the moon at the thought of finally having a horse that just belongs to me. How my heart was crushed when my mum said that if we're keeping her at my yard, she'd be used in lessons.

  • The thing is, we live on a farm, so space for horses isn't a problem. We used to keep Queenie on the farm before she got laminates because my dad didn't know how to properly feed a horse and I was really young, so I couldn't do it.

  • Don't get me wrong, I love the thought of helping my yard put in any way possible. But this just feels like I'm getting another horse taken from me. Am I overreacting? And do you have any advdce on how I should approach this?

ExistenceOfCranberry Does letting the riding school use your horses get your family a break on boarding fees?
  • Ultra-Cyborg So based on the info given it really doesn't seem like you have legal ownership of either of these horses, but your mother does. They are not your horses, you just
  • ride them. You can't tell your mom what to do with her property just because you want the horse all to yourself. YTA
