It literally doesn't matter! Thank goodness this guy and his wife can both see that. There's no reason why either of them can't drive. Clearly, the husband just doesn't want to because he drives all week long. It's the same as a chef who doesn't want to cook a gourmet meal when they return from work: you just get tired of doing the same things over and over again. If your partner cares about your needs, they'll see that weariness in your eyes and take over that task for you with no questions asked.

With some family members, you just have to accept that they're "like that" and will probably never change. But that key word is "probably." Maybe they'll change with enough pressure, or in this case, with enough playful mockery.

Here's another good point
The wife probably hasn't addressed this because she's used to her dad's antics. But if it's bothering her husband, it should be on her mind. She could take a subtle approach or an overt one. Maybe that's something she and the husband could discuss further before actually deciding on a path to take.
