    Wife Refuses to Make Firefighter Husband Breakfast After He Dismisses Her Homemade Meals: '[He] took one bite...and threw it all away'

    Why does this firefighter keep throwing away the meals his wife is making him? 

    Some people don't appreciate the good things in life until they're gone. 

    It's a lovely privilege to have a spouse who cooks you delicious meals. Not everyone is a good cook to begin with… We all know someone who oversalts their food, or burns it to a crisp, or serves up their chicken while it's still pink in the middle. But those who are good cooks can find it incredibly satisfying to make meals for their loved ones. Imagine how nice it would be to come home from a long day's work to find that your spouse has prepared a delicious dinner for you. 

    And wouldn't it be so great to start out your day with a fresh breakfast? No need to pop a frozen sandwich into the microwave if your wife has prepared you homemade buttermilk pancakes, an apple turnover, and eggs. Right? Isn't that what we'd all prefer? 

    Well… not this guy. This firefighter likes his breakfasts straight from the freezer, thank you very much. And his wife is "fed up," as she shared in a post to r/AITAH, asking if she should keep cooking for him or not.

    • AITAH for not cooking my husband breakfast anymore?

      75% of the time I have to wake him up with break fast otherwise he sleeps half the day. He's a firefighter so has weird hours to begin with. It's the only way to get him out of bed and moving.

    • I have 100% sympathy for this wife, and the solution here is simple. She should stop cooking for him entirely. She should continue to cook for herself, of course. This alone might vastly improve her living conditions. She can make herself whatever meals she's in the mood for. The husband should fend for himself. 

      Not all couples are compatible in every way, and for whatever reason, her husband has gotten the ick from her cooking. It's possible that she's not as good of a chef as she thinks she is. But I think the more likely scenario is that her husband just isn't in the mood for healthy food, and seemingly prefers fast food. 

      If they're a compatible couple outside of the food issue, than having a totally separate meal plan might solve their dilemma. 

      But the fact that the husband is a constant criticizer makes me wonder if their marriage isn't already on the rocks. If anyone ever called a single thing I made dog you-know-what, I would probably never speak to that person again just out of the sheer meanness of that comment. That is a totally uncalled for thing to say. 

      After separating their meals, the next step should be to stop waking up the husband at all. If he wants to sleep weird hours, let him! Is he even fun to hang out with? If he's sleep deprived, he's probably super grouchy, too. Let him sleep all day and eat frozen food if that's really what he wants.

    • BlazingSunflowerland Just don't bother making him breakfast. He's probably lashing out to punish you for waking him up. Leave him sleeping and do your own breakfast. Unless he needs to be up to do childcare. Then wake him up but leave him to make his own breakfast.

    • You aren't his mommy so leave him to adult. If he can't be polite to you, then rethink whether you want to spend your life being insulted.
