WIBTA for cutting off my landlord's Wi-Fi after he started hogging the whole connection
"I rent a small studio on my landlord's property, and I pay for my own fiber internet because I work from home. It is a high-end connection because I deal with massive data transfers all day. About a month ago, the landlord asked to use my guest network for a few days while his provider fixed a line. I said sure. I wanted to be a good neighbor and did not think it would be an issue for a short time."

Turns out the landlord liked this tenant's wifi more than the mediocre one he was providing for the rest of the tenants. So, he stayed logged in and had his entire household use it. The tenant checked the wifi logs and saw that his landlord and the landlord's family were using to watch movies and more! His expensive and fancy wifi was now lagging and ruining his work. So, he changed the login. Did the landlord like this? Of course not. He came marching to this guy's door and tried to guilt him into sharing the new login. The audacity!

“Those two days turned into three weeks. My speeds started tanking right when I had important meetings. I checked the router logs and realized he had his whole family on my signal. They were streaming 4k movies and his kids were downloading huge patches for their games. I pay nearly a hundred bucks a month for this and I am not interested in sponsoring his family entertainment while I struggle to do my job.”

“I shut off the guest network last night. Ten minutes later, he is at my door asking why the signal is gone. I told him straight up that the lag was messing with my work and I could not afford the downtime. He actually argued that since the fiber line runs through his backyard, he should get access as a courtesy. I reminded him that my name is on the bill and he is not paying a cent for it.”

Obviously, this tenant refused and was, quite frankly, aghast at his landlord's entitlement. He was the only one paying for this wifi, so he is the only one who should be using it. He did the neighborly thing and doesn't need to do anything else. It's the landlord who was trying to take advantage of this tenant's kindness. However, the tenant's girlfriend is making him feel bad about it, and the landlord is now using his landlord duties as a passive-aggressive tool. What would you do in this situation?

"Now the vibe is completely ruined. He is being passive-aggressive and mentioned some random maintenance inspection he wants to do next week just to annoy me. My girlfriend thinks I am being an *sshole and should have just let him use it to keep the peace. I feel like I am just setting a boundary, but now I am worried he might try to mess with my lease over some petty wifi drama. It is insane how people feel entitled to things they do not pay for.
I am just sitting here waiting for him to knock on the door again. I really hate how a small favor turned into a massive headache for me."
