I'm already not super excited about a restaurant with white tablecloths, bougie atmosphere, and expensive salads. Although I love good food and a fun culinary experience, I firmly believe that an exorbitant price tag sort of ruins that entire fun of it all. Oftentimes, expensive restaurants are pretentious simply because their guests want to feel elevated and pretentious themselves.
Like this young man, hoping to put himself and his future wife on a pedestal of wealth.
But it backfired…

There's nothing worse than a bill sitting on the table for too long.
The stinging awkwardness of a sizzling bill waiting to be picked up makes everyone at the table dread the bottom line number. So anyone who has felt the burn of a bill obligation knows that when a receipt sits too long on the table, it becomes a standoff over which unlucky party member will be stuck with their credit card aflame.

This is a petty, babyish response in my opinion. Although it's not comfortable to discuss money and splitting costs, that's such an essential part of any marriage that this feels a bit like a red flag early on in this relationship. If he's not even willing to discuss a $600, how is he going to act when they have a mortgage, a car payment, or even their wedding bills to attend to?

Perhaps there will be a time when their dealings are resolved, but for now, the bill and how it was paid remain a mystery. At least this woman seems prepared to back her family up…
