“I've often asked myself, reading posts here, whether I'd meet one in the wild... and now I did. I work for a large company, and our group (distributed geographically) had our annual face-to-face meeting at the HQ. For that, the manager reserved a 20-seat conference room for a day (9-5).”

A group of employees meet in a professional meeting room. -
"Enter Entitled Manager who, at 2 PM walks in and says they have a reservation, so we need to leave. This was most surprising, seeing as we had the room reserved for the day weeks in advance. He kept insisting they had the room reserved without showing any evidence for it beyond "we always have our weekly meetings here". You'd think he'd leave once we showed him the room in the reservation system and all - he just won't budge."

It took a whole 15 minutes to get this guy to leave. That is way too long for something that could have easily been figured out in a few seconds. However, this manager obviously wanted to pull some power play and get away with whatever lie he was trying to push. Luckily, this team held their ground and let the dude just go off for a while before getting higher-ups involved. They even showed him the paperwork that proved he was wrong, but he still didn't budge. Ridiculous.

A clearly marked meeting room in a professional office workspace. -
“We've been through a number of hypotheses (honest mistake by our manager who confused timezones? No. Does the infamous MS Teams have a bug and double-booked the room? No.) before realizing the simple truth that Entitled Manager was counting on bvllying us out of the room. He must have done this a number of times, and that worked for him on account of people being non-confrontational or not wanting to get on his bad side, as he might have some power.”

An evening meeting in a class meeting room, office space. -
"It took us some 15 minutes and a walk to a facilities manager just to get the a**hole to leave… He'd bluster somewhere and make ridiculous, unreasonable demands until he got something. The problem is that it works too often, and some even admire that style. The worst thing you can do with these bvllies is give them power."

Hey management, let's do better! Give your workers some trust and the benefit of the doubt. They tend to know more of what goes on on the ground than any manager or higher-up does.
