    Georgia employee calls out Nevada company that hired him, then fired him before Day 1 just as he arrived: 'Completely unacceptable from the hiring team'

    The unprofessionalism displayed by this company drew millions of eyes after a scorned employee put them on blast. 

    A lot of people travel for work, and they'll tell you: it's no walk in the park. It's all of the work that goes into a 9-5 job, but your time is bookended by long flights and a stay in a random hotel far from home. 

    This guy was super excited to accept a job that would require some travel. 

    It was for DreamHack, an esports convention taking place in Atlanta, Georgia. 

    Since this guy is from Nevada, that was a cool job offer, but it would require some 2,300+ miles of travel. 

    But literally the moment they touched down in Georgia, there was crickets from the team. 

    This person started asking for details, and the rest you'll just have to read to believe.

      After being told I have a job, then driving from Carson City Nevada all the way to Atlanta Georgia I receive this message: Completely unacceptable from the hiring team for this event

      Vex OBLUE 12:48 PM Hey Lucas, due to an error in our staffing we filled the role we originally offered to you. We are very sorry for this inconvenience this is going to cause. We have a couple options here. First option, we reached out to dream hack and they said they have roles open, but it's 15/h if you are willing to work with them I will be MORE than happy to pass your contact to them asap!

    • Second option, we are looking into getting you a Dreamhack GA pass so you can enjoy the convention and not work over the weekend if you do not choose option one. Please let me know asap which option you'd like to go with, if any. Again I am truly sorry for this error and you will be the first on our list for getting work if we get a last second drop, if you do not choose the working directly with Dreamhack option

    • Gosh, there's so much going on here. 

      I'd be so curious to know if any contracts were signed or anything. Because, as a commenter noted, these appear to be Discord messages?? I would so hope that there are like, email records of this or something. Very odd. 

      People shared their sympathies and expressed disappointment at this worker's predicament.

      pre-Co id Social Di... @jamesmbr... A company did that to me once. After I politely explained that I fully understood, "things happen", I promised no hard feelings, but that I WOULD see them in small claims court to recoup my losses, the job magically reappeared. Funny how that works.

    • Mojo Dojo Casa dig @dig6394 If you f up like this, you don't get to say "Sorry, we filled your role" you hire both people and take the L. If you accidentally hire two people to do a one- person job, you should be responsible, not make that the people you S over's problem

    • The options they provided are sooo silly

      Sell the Bridge @Sell_the_B... Give them two options- they can provide the agreed upon wage and you'll head home or they'll provide the agreed upon wage and you'll work the agreed upon work.

      It's pretty funny to me that one option was just like, "Go enjoy the event!" As if attending an event is going to replace the promised job and salary involved.
