History becomes significantly more entertaining once you realize most historical figures were probably just exhausted people improvising their way through chaos with dramatically fewer resources than modern humans. Entire empires rose and fell because somebody made one terrible decision after lunch. Wars started over misunderstandings, kings consulted astrologers like they were customer support representatives, and doctors treated serious illnesses with methods that would now immediately trigger several lawsuits. Somehow these people still walked around acting unbelievably confident all the time. Honestly, modern society may be messy, but at least nobody is currently trying to cure headaches by drilling holes directly into somebody’s skull during a full moon ceremony.

The best history memes remind everyone that humanity has always operated with the exact same emotional energy, just wearing different outfits. Ancient Romans complained about annoying neighbors, medieval peasants probably hated mandatory work meetings, and every generation in history somehow believed younger people were ruining civilization permanently. Nothing changes. The technology improves, but the chaos remains completely timeless. That is what makes historical memes so funny. Beneath all the giant battles, dramatic portraits, and textbook speeches were regular people making bizarre decisions, overreacting emotionally, and desperately trying to survive situations they absolutely did not understand any better than the rest of us today.
