Turns out a quick drive actually does help you make up your mind. There are always those tips that tell you to go for a walk or drive if you are feeling stuck. Well, here is proof that it works!

"We toured it on a Saturday at 11am which I now realize is basically the most useless time to actually read a neighborhood. Everything looks quiet and fine at 11am on a weekend.
Something felt off and I couldn't place it so the night before we were supposed to submit I just drove by after work. Didn't get out, didn't knock on anything, just did a slow lap down the street to see what it looked like when people were actually home."

“Completely different street. Four kids on bikes, guy washing his car in the driveway, older couple out on their porch, someone walking a dog waved at my car for literally no reason. The whole thing just felt like a place where people actually lived and knew each other.”

Couple being shown the inside of a house for sale by a happy real estate agent. -
“The house itself was never the issue, it checked enough boxes and we had money saved on the side so we weren't going into it completely stretched. It was more that the Saturday showing gave me nothing to go on beyond the square footage.”

That 10 minute drive basically made the decision for me. You can renovate a kitchen. You cant renovate the 8 houses surrounding yours.
We close in 3 weeks and im more excited about the street than the actual house which is a weird thing to say out loud.
Did anyone else do a random weeknight drive before committing or is that just me being anxious about it."

This couple was afraid to take that big step of becoming homeowners. It's a scary decision to make, and expensive! You can't just decide at the snap of a finger. It takes time and lots of sleeping on it. This husband decided to do his own research by taking a drive through the neighborhood. They didn't know why they felt uneasy about making an offer. They loved the house, it was their dream home! But something just felt… off.
A little drive through the neighborhood and the husband realized they felt off because they didn't know anything about the neighbors or community. He took a 10-minute drive and it was clear what they had to do, they had to finally commit. The home was perfect, the community lovely, and the neighbors friendly. The dream for any potential homeowner!

Rented a house for 12 years. I was finally in the market to buy. The house directly across the street came up for sale on a Thursday. Looked at it on that Friday morning and put an offer that night. Neighbors are just as important as the house. I had 12 years to review the neighborhood.

Relatable. Someone actually waved at me and said hello as they walked by when I was outside waiting for our agent to arrive. Made a positive impact. Also closing in about 3 weeks.

Your neighbors will absolutely make or break a home.

I actually did knock on a few doors and ask about the neighborhood. As long as one is polite and keeps it brief I think it’s okay. If my next-door-neighbor-to-be slams their door in my face or can’t control their 9 dogs, or I hear them screaming at their wide as I walk up to the door…that’s good information.
