Employer has new CEO and they’re already destroying company morale

Been with this company for about four years. It's completely remote with flexible scheduling, unlimited PTO, and in a field I'm passionate about. My coworkers are the best. They insist no merger is happening, but after further digging into their latest hiring practices, they laid off most of their engineers at their other company and increased business development hir

It feels like our past CEO, who wasn't the best but clearly respected the company culture, just jumped ship to let the rest of us drown. None of them give a sh about us. I'm old enough to know this for years already, but I had just found a good routine with a new manager and we were making great progress. I'm just so depr sed about what's to come.

I'm going to start looking into other jobs soon, but the market is so bad right now I don't have high hopes of finding anything that pays enough.
