Below is the employee's account of what happened that morning and what, of course, turned out to be a non-issue with the customer machine. We can't say we're surprised that the person who thought it was a good idea to wake his employee and his wife before 6:00 AM didn't do his own due diligence to check if the situation was actually as dire as he thought it was. What a shocker!

First of all, let's get this part out of the way and acknowledge that the author was certainly not in the wrong for standing up to his boss and informing him that he breached an important boundary between life and work. Second of all, if there is even a human resources department, we would suggest getting them involved immediately.
After all, the only way this boss had the contact information of the employee's wife was from an Emergency Contact form. That information is not supposed to be utilized unless it's an actual emergency that deals with the health and/or wellness of the employee in question. The boss's actions here were not only a violation of trust and personal boundaries, but they were also a potential violation of his own capabilities as an employer.
