Woman grocery shopping in a food aisle reaching for an item. -
“I was in Walmart and I had finished up with my shopping and was walking in that row where you can enter the register lines. As I was walking an older boomer dude was walking toward me also trying to find a register. I was able to scan the open lines and figured the shortest one was the line I was right next to, so I queued and the old dude figured the same and got behind me.”
-
I guess he felt like I jumped in front of him or otherwise skipped him cuz the old dude started sighing loudly and just itching about the wait while I ignored him. When it was my turn to start putting my stuff on the belt, he kept saying "come on, hurry up" and I turned and told him to cool it. He was still upset, shifting his feet back and forth and then when it was time for me to pay with my card he started bumping me with his cart! I was *issed and immediately turned to him and told him to cut that out and he went and bumped me again and said "then quit taking so long!"
-
So I grabbed his cart from the front end that he was bumping me with and yanked it away from him quickly, taking full control. I aimed it toward the entrance bathrooms like 30 feet away and pushed it really hard and it made it all the way to an ice machine next to the bathroom. He just stared at me furious and I glared back and told him in my deepest voice "Go get it."
After that he didn't want to fight anymore and just lowered his head and went over to the cart. I paid my stuff and left quickly in the opposite direction."

Sometimes immaturity needs to be met with more immaturity. It's like speaking their language. You can try to reason with someone like that, who will continue to bump you with their cart to hurry you up for their own benefit. But if they are portraying that kind of behavior, it is unlikely that they have the ability to reason. So, you have to stoop to their level and do something like grab their cart and launch it across the store.
Did it help that this guy was much younger, taller, and probably a little scarier than this old man was? Yes, I'm sure that helped intimidate the guy a bit. But it was the counter act of also using immaturity, I think, that really go through to him.

Grocery cart making its way to the checkout line. -
"You're nicer than I am. The instant he started bumping me with his cart I would have YELLED "If you hit me with that cart one more time, I'm calling the police and having you charged with assault". I'm old, grumpy, and have no patience for ***holes like him."
-
"In a regular grocery store, not the Mart of Walls, there was a full cart near one of the registers (not blocking it). I went and put my stuff on the belt, as did a woman behind me. All of a sudden a man came along, put an item in the cart, and started *itching about the two of us having ‘butted in line!"’The clerk had to be polite, of course. I didn’t, and told him off. The clerk rang me up, and the woman behind me, all the while the male Karen (Chad?) was complaining."

It looks like some people think that the person under reacted. That they should have escalated it to a legal issue or got even more aggressive back with him. As a tiny little woman, I probably would have just looked at the old man and started to cry… But that's just me. Another tiny little woman might have done the same as this tall young man did. We all have our own techniques, and this match of immaturity gets an A+ in our books!

“I'd have been tempted to bump him right back with that trolley and let him fall on his *ss.”
