This parent explains that their daughter's school is undergoing some major shifts in their food policies. (It actually made me wonder if this was a Montessori or something, because I can't imagine a public school ever barring kids from bringing in cupcakes and cookies.) The school is being very, very strict about it. It's one thing to say, “You can't bring in cupcakes for the whole class on a student's birthday anymore.” It's a whole other thing to declare their control over what a kid brings for lunch each day.

Am I wrong for giving my daughter junk food despite being told not to by her school?

So what do we think? Is this a victory for the parent, or a lesson learned?
Probably no one is in the right here… The teachers are being so strict with something that many parents just don't have the capacity to deal with. Some people work 2 or 3 jobs — the fact that their child gets to eat is a privilege in their eyes, regardless of how healthy the food is or not.
Of course, it's important to promote healthy living, because eating well is a very important life factor. But the school is really being overbearing with it, and I bet that this parent isn't the only one who's fed up with it.
However! This parent went wayyyy too far upon getting their child suspended. What were they thinking? I cannot believe they let it get that far. Their kid must be humiliated, and this won't teach her a lesson in a positive way.
What do you think? And what should this parent do next?
