The son wasn't surprised that on the first day he set it up, he caught his mom going through his drawers, closet, and taking stuff from his desk.

When the son returned home and confronted his mom with the proof, she claimed that she had every right to go into her son's room in her own home. Now, setting aside her going through his belongings, which is not okay in any age, if he were 13, we might have agreed that she had business going into her son's bedroom.
