    21-year-old woman gets fined $200 by HOA for having dandelions on her lawn: 'Someone drove through my neighbor hood and took pictures'

    HOAs love to fine their residents, and they often choose the tiniest, most insignificant little "problems" in the whole neighborhood. 

    Just like many people, this person has got some new blooms on their lawn. In the springtime, flowers seem to bloom overnight! One day there's nothing, the next day, you're seeing flowers all over the place. These are so pretty to see, and it's a lovely way to welcome in the warmer weather. 

    Weeds grow right alongside those flowers though, and homeowners know the struggles of keeping weeds away all too well. They can be quite pesky, and if you don't get rid of them quickly, they can take up space in place of actual plants.

    • It's a real shame that dandelions aren't considered actual flowers though, and are instead relegated to the category of weeds, because they're really pretty. Especially when there's a whole field of these yellow blooms! Not to mention that it's really fun to take the white dandelions, with their seeds ready to spread far and wide, and blow them off in one big puff (make a wish!). 

      Plus, what other flower can you hold under someone's chin and ask them if they like butter? None, probably. It's only dandelions. 

      None of that matters to this HOA, which emailed a renter in the middle of the night to scold her about her dandelion-filled lawn. First of all, who cares if the lawn has a few “weeds” on it? Second of all… is this even this woman's problem? Or has the HOA notified an entirely wrong person about the issue?

      side note, I haven't been able to mow the grass since it has been raining nonstop for the last 2 days, dandelions were very appreciative of that. Anything else I should do aside from hiring extra help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

      Heaven forbid an HOA spot a "problem" like having flowers in your yard. So ridiculous. HOAs seem to never solve actual problems — they truly seem to spend every waking moment figuring out how to charge their residents to live on their own properties. Did you know that some HOAs charge fines for people parking in their own driveways, or for painting their fences the wrong colors? It's just an outrageous practice, and this is just the latest example.

      No-Tap... Check your lease to see exactly what you are responsible for. It may fall on the landlord if it is not specified.

      BDiddnt Chances are nobody actually reported you. The HOA usually has people drive-through and they just are looking specifically for fines.
