One time, I was flying back to the USA from South America, and my flight kept getting delayed more and more. Finally, after about a five-hour delay, I got to the airport, and it turns out that they had "oversold" the flight. I was in a country where I knew no one and didn't speak the language that well. So what did I do? After I calmed down, I phoned a friend back home, who phoned a friend where I was and found a couch to crash on for the night. That's right, the airport didn't provide squat for me. They basically told me to sleep at the gate on the floor or something.
When I got there the next morning, it turned out they had booked me on a flight that had a 10-hour layover. TEN FRIGGIN' HOURS. Luckily, I'm never disrespectful, but I do voice my wants and needs, so they were able to get me on standby for a flight that had only a three-hour layover, and it worked out. It was a disaster and could have been way worse if I didn't have memes to scroll through and LOL at while I waited and waited and waited…
I could have been mean to the employees and probably ended up in an even worse situation, but the memes kept me cool. Well, as cool as anyone can be in a situation like that. I got to LOL and giggle and feel less alone with the memes that also made fun of how horrible travel can sometimes be.
