It would’ve been very easy to look the other way. It’s not his business, it’s not his money, and technically, it’s “just points.” But that’s also what makes it matter. Small actions like that add up, especially when they’re directed at a small, local place that relies on trust more than anything.
What he chose to do wasn’t about causing drama or getting someone in trouble. It was about protecting something that was being taken advantage of.

And yes, calling out a coworker isn’t comfortable. There’s always that unspoken rule of staying in your lane, not getting involved, not being “that person.” But there’s also something to be said for knowing where your line is, and sticking to it.
He didn’t escalate right away. He spoke to them first. He made his stance clear. Only when it became obvious that nothing would change did he take it further, and even then, he handled it in a respectful way.

At the end of the day, both people revealed something about themselves. One saw an opportunity to take advantage of a system and went for it.
The other saw that same situation and chose fairness instead. And even if it made things awkward at work, even if it meant being labeled as a “snitch,” there’s something genuinely respectable about standing by your values when it would’ve been easier not to.
Because doing the right thing isn’t always the most comfortable option, but it’s still the right one.
