"Easily the worst shot in the entire Harry Potter saga."
-
Last week, a film fanatic went viral for calling this shot of Voldemort from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix the worst in the series. I have to admit, when the book described Voldemort possessing Harry and attempting to control his mind, that wasn't the image that came to mind. He doesn't look scary here; he looks plain goofy! Maybe this was intentional on the production's part, because they didn't want to deter younger viewers from seeing the movie by making Voldemort too scary. Whatever the intention was, it feels pretty out of place in such a dramatic scene.

There is no world where the title of "Worst Shot in Harry Potter History" doesn't include the final shot of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, placing it at least in the top 3. So much of that movie felt timeless, but Alfonso Cuarón had to put this in to remind repeat viewers it came out in 2004. Considering how serious the series was about to get, it's wild that ending on such a goofy gag was even okayed by executives. At the end of the day, this is a story about British schoolchildren getting into antics, and this shot aligns with that.
Is this freeze frame better than the bad Quidditch green screen from the first movie? What is the worst shot in the Harry Potter movies, in your opinion?
