If I had a wedding, I would probably leave my phone on silent in a back room somewhere, and maybe take a couple selfies with my spouse, but that's about it. Just think about it — if you've spent $10k on a wedding that's lasting 4 hours, you're spending $2500 per hour, $41 a minute. Yeah, no, there's no way I'd be glued to my phone while paying prices like that.
And it's just the principle of it all. Don't you want to enjoy tasty food before tearing up the dance floor with your beloved and all your pals? Don't you want to live in the moment for like, one day? It's a golden day for many people, and some consider it the best day of their lives. All eyes are on you, celebrating you and the person you love most.
So of course, people were stunned when this groom's boss decided to this in the middle of the big day!

Whew! So much to dissect here.

The boss, AJ, messages at 3:48 to ask, “How is it going?” Bro, it's a wedding, how do you think it's going? Why would you even ask that?
Heartbreakingly, in just 13 short minutes, the employee replies. I am begging Dylan to quit this job. Please, bro. This is not normal, no matter how much you are passionate about your job. Your boss doesn't respect your personal time (or PTO!) and nothing he says will change how he treated you on a very important day of your life.
The employee replied that they got married “this morning/afternoon,” and yet they're back online. Dylan is primed to work, still, presumably while in a limo with tin cans tied to the bumper, while his new spouse sits by his side.
The work-life balance has rarely tipped the scales like this. I don't care how much you love your job, or are passionate about your projects, you simply cannot let it dominate your actual life outside of that 9-5.
Also, shame on the boss for not only writing this out, but feeling so proud about it that they shared it for the world to see. They're so smug. So self-congratulatory. Wow, you're such a hero for telling them to log off! How about you don't message them on their wedding day in the first place? And especially to ask a leading question like “How is it going?" implying that you need the employee for something. If you did message them on their wedding day — which again, big no no. AJ we are not doing that, ok? — you could send some well wishes. Sheesh.
