  • I am not sure if it is petty revenge or malicious compliance, but I think this story can fit here.

  • Some years ago I used to live on top of a pharmacy. Next to the pharmacy there were 4 parking places and a gate, giving access to our private court where I had my garage.
  • In the area there where other 3 parking areas, with at least 80 parking spaces. Nevertheless, coming back from work I always found one car parked in front of my gate, as this was closer to the pharmacy.

  • The gate during the day was always open, as the pharmacy had their deposit in there and, to not open and close every time, they used to block the photocell with a wood.
  • One day I arrived at the gate that was luckily free, but the guy (around 75,M) in front of me turned into the gate to park.

  • I start clacsoning to tell him to move, he left the car there and said "this space belongs to the pharmacy, I am going to the pharmacy and I found the parking place before you...
  • So I am leaving it in. If you don't want people to park inside, you need to close the gate!" Useless to say that I explained why he was wrong, but he just left.

  • But I noticed one thing: the car was not obstructing the photocell. So this is what I did: \- "accidentally" touched the wood to let the gate close with the car inside \- I parked my car in one of the parking places around my flat \- I went home by feet to take a shower \- after 10 minutes I listened to the intercom going mad crazy I dressed up and in 5 minutes I went downstairs.
  • The guy was furious "I called the police and you are going to have problems now, you stole my car!" This guy went ballistic, complaining with everyone was going out from the pharmacy and when he saw me he started insulting me like there was no tomorrow.
  • I told him to calm down, because he was wrong and that I was in the shower.

  • And the guy:" No I don't care, now you stay here and wait for the police!" The police came and the guy "he stole my car, look I have the keys and the guy closed the gate to steal it!".
  • And here the real show started! The police asked me what happened, I told them that yes I complained about him parking in my private property, but then I went to park somewhere around and I went home the same...and the guy was shouting at me saying I was lying...

  • About the wood I said I didn't know it must have fallen by itself, but even if I removed it it was in my rights to have my gate closed as the guy told me 15 minutes ago...
  • And the guy was shouting at me saying I was lying. The police understood what happened, told him to shut up and to not talk anymore: "This is private property, sir!".
  • The guy was purple, couldn't stay still, extra furious. The police asked me to open the gate, I told them I needed to pick up the remote from the car and I asked them to explain to the guy what he was doing wrong in my absence "because I am a little bit scared by him".

  • I took my time to get to the car, to allow the police schooling the guy, and once back the guy was looking down, like he got beaten with a stick.
  • I opened the gate, the police forced the guy to apologise to me and told him to leave.
  • No fines, no charges even from the police who told him "you could be charged with false alarm, but we won't do it as long as you don't park here anymore".

  • I didn't see this guy anymore, and for a while no one parked in front of the gate.

  • Puzzleheaded-Pen 1461 he really said "close the gate if you don't want people parking there" and you went "okay" and did exactly that... now suddenly it's theft?? the switch up is insane. also the fact that you didn't even argue much and just let the police do the talking while he dug his own hole... that's the kind of petty that actually works because you stayed calm and let him look ridiculous on his own and honestly you were nicer than you had to be. you could've pressed the false alarm thing

  • OP sliding doors_ I mean the guy was being arrogant to scare me, I think he didn't connect the dots... While the part of being calm, in my mind I had the plan to tell him to ask the pharmacy to open their parking space, so that he could get the message from the pharmacy that it wasn't a parking space, and that was enough for me. But then he messed up big time, and I decided to follow...
  • Ravokion Bro you should have told the police to fine him. Hit him with a fine for a false alarm, parking on private property, and threatening you. You should have gone all out just to proove a point. That old dude f ed around and didnt find out sh. Only mildly inconvenienced.
  • OP sliding doors_ The shame in front of the village was already enough... People take about it for weeks...

  • AlternativeMotor5722 I would speak to the pharmacy and consider putting up a sign warning you could be towed or locked in, private parking.
  • OP sliding doors_ Eh very long story short: the owners of the Pharmacy were the owners of my flat, and they were saying not to bother the pharmacy... And they weren't happy about what happened
  • HinaSaurous You played it smart, stayed within your rights and let karma and the police do all the work. Instant respect for how calmly you handled that entitled guy.

  • vanGenne It's always fun to let people ruin their own day like that
  • mordecai98 I love clacsoning vs honking. Never heard it as a verb. Gonna use this and confuse people!
