Quitting a bad job on the spot might be something you fantasize about, but have you ever actually done it?

Quitting can be dramatic, and who doesn't love a little bit of drama? But too much drama can make you feel bad. And it's tough to be the cause of that drama, even when you know you're in the right. But the worker in this story put himself in that position because he felt like he had no other choice. You show up reliably, so they should too. But sometimes in the service industry, your schedule can change at the drop of a hat, and there's not much you can do about it. Good managers, though, can communicate through this. They know how much work you're putting in, and they find a way of keeping you in the loop about scheduling decisions. It's the least they can do.
