If you've ever experienced helicopter parenting firsthand, you know just how difficult it is to escape it. Clingy parents seem to have the ability to justify everything they do, no matter how irrational and insane it might seem.
Though the world is a crazy place, and parents who are concerned for their children are doing it right, there's a certain level of freedom a child should be allowed to have. Without freedom, children are unable to learn what they should and shouldn't do in a given situation. So, instead of knowing how to lift the spoon from their bowl of cereal to their mouths, children are hoping Mommy does it for them.

This mom is using classic manipulation tactics to guilt her child into caving and apologizing. In all honesty, you and I both know that there's nothing the child should apologize for. Children need privacy, too, and this mother is choosing to invade their safe space. I remember my first dorm room; It was perfect. I felt like it was a safe haven that no one could penetrate. Why? It was mine, and nobody else could get in if I could help it. Well, my roommate could, but you get the point…
