  • My boss asked me at 8am on Monday to make a presentation for the whole company at 9am

When I told him that I can do it, because I actually have it ready, but that I do not appreciate that he ask me for these things last minute he said "keep it for yourself, I can't handle feedback right now" He is the same guy that skipped me for the promotion.
  • Adventurous-Wash3201 Original Poster's Reply I delivered a very good presentation, I got compliments from my team for it. Then I sent an email to HR in which I reported word by word our interaction with screenshots. Two people in our team are in burnout because of him, so I said that multiple times he told me he is always open for feedback to avoid someone else going in burnout but I brought proof that this is not true.
  • EconomistFar666 That's poor leadership. An 8am request for a 9am company wide presentation is unreasonable. And shutting you down when you gave calm feedback shows insecurity, not strength. If he skipped you for promotion but still relies on you in crunch time, that tells you a lot.

  • Adventurous-Wash3201 Original Poster's Reply The fact is that he is the one responsible for this meetings, they are every week at the same time, the content is 50% the same 50% new. It's been 6 weeks that he forgets to tell people to prepare material on time. Three of these weeks he asked me to cover for that at 8am on the same day, I start at 9. I just was hoping that with two people in his team going on stress leave because of him he would understand that he needs to be more organised, but he

  • Noob ToobinStinkMitt "I do not appreciate that he ask me for these things last minute" that's why you don't get the promotion. Fair or not.
  • Adventurous-Wash3201 Original Poster's Reply Sure, it is also not normal that for something you need to do every single week you constantly forget to inform people on time and you always end up on Monday morning at 8am to ask for presentation to be ready by 9 am on the same day. Isn't it incompetence?
  • bdash1990 You should memorize "keep it for yourself, I can't handle feedback right now" for the next time he has anything to say about your performance.

  • jdscott0111 You missed out on such a great opportunity. You let him flounder during the presentation, then when he can't answer questions, you step up, plug in your laptop, and be the hero to his bosses. You make him look like a fool, and then they not only question his competence, but his judgment for skipping you for that promotion. You could have been in his job inside of six months if you played it smart. All you did was give him notice that he can keep asking these things of you and the new

  • autumneliteRS I'd probably start looking for other jobs. He sounds like an absolute pain and there are other workplaces where you can be paid more not to deal with him.
