    Guy clears snow for 3 hours only for an entitled neighbor to park on family’s mailbox, and starts plowing insults when confronted

    Living next to someone who thinks the street belongs to them is like being stuck in a low‑budget reality show, I would call it Freeze Factor, and the first rule is everyone gets frostbite, because this is one of those stories that shows snow can be a problem, but a frosty neighbor whose hobby is walking on thin ice is worse. 

    Maybe our guy should invest in a pricey snow blower like the woman in this story and blow the neighbor away.

    • AITAH Neighbor took parking spot and caused a scene after I shoveled for 3 hours

      Backstory: we just got almost two feet of snow. I went out and snowblowed/shoveled for 3ish hours.

    • During this I cleared out my mailbox/street parking spot area. This is only used by my family as the pull off for the mailman to reach the mailbox.

    • Three hours of shoveling and snowblowing go into clearing a lane for the mailman and the family’s daily access, only for the neighbor to park right in front of the mailbox anyway. The snowplow rolls through, treated the car like a stationary boulder, and dumps a fresh wall of snow back onto the driveway and in front of the mailbox. That would be annoying enough on its own, but then the woman responds to basic boundary‑setting with a little prafinty yells at the mother, and escalates the whole thing into a sidewalk stage play. The fact that she is so focused on winning the moment that she forgets she is the one who parked in someone else’s designated area speaks volumes.  

    • Usually I clear this out from snow so they can deliver mail without struggle. When I(19m) go inside, my mom(mid 50s)tells me that the person across the street parked their car in our mailbox area.

    • Unfortunately the snow plows came down when they were in this spot and the snow plow couldn't properly plow around the car parked in the street now.

    • My mother was witnessing this and opened the front door and told the lady who was moving the car that she cannot park infront of of our mailbox.

    • The lady(around 40) responded with something along the lines of "go inside b\tch." My sister(both around 21) and her friend are outside when this is happening.

    • The younger guy comes out of the house, iritated, and instead of a calm conversation he decides to shovel her snow right back into the street in front of her driveway. That part is childish, sure, but it is also a provocation that mirrors the original provocation. The cop husband doubles down by refusing to roll down his window, talk, or even look, treating the driveway like a sovereign state and his badge like a universal excuse. When the neighbor then calls a private plow to clean their tiny stretch of driveway and the plow ends up bulldozing other people’s lawns, it completes the punchline. They are so fixated on being “right” and making a point that they accidentally turn the whole block into collateral damage.

    • She was just yelling out the door. Now this is where I come in because I didn't like how she was speaking to my family especially when we didn't say anything to attack her.

    • He is a cop, and feels like he has power over everyone. I walk over to his car after he pulls into his driveway which isn't even cleared yet.

    • He won't roll the window down or look at me, so I took all the snow from where his wife parked the car in- front of my mailbox and shoveled it back into the street in-front of his driveway.

    • He still wouldn't get out of his car or talk to me. I end up going to my girlfriends house and my mom calls to tell me that the lady or her husband called a snow plow truck to clear their small driveway and then ironically missed the snow that I shoveled back into street.

    • The plow truck ended up clearing only their property of the street and pushing all the snow onto the neighbors lawns and even tearing up one neighbors lawn.

    • The real question is not who started it, it is who handled it like an adult. The neighbor weaponized rudeness and entitlement, the husband weaponized his rank, and the younger guy wielded the shovel. None of it changes the fact that the original move, parking in someone else’s mailbox pull‑off after a two‑foot snowstorm, was the truly unnecessary step. In that kind of scenario, the only person who actually moved the snow fairly was the weather.

    • _Dxrk__ Original Poster's Reply I was wondering if IATA, I don't want anyone to get hurt or in trouble. If anything I would like help on how to not have further issues on our hands. This guy likes to light fireworks off in the street and the burnt shells land on our property and his daughter hits softballs towards our parked cars. This was another incident where the wife yelled at us for no reason and the husband wouldn't even bother to talk to me one on one about it. My mom is getting fed up bu

    • 13120 I dunno dude. I try to live my life by the 3 Ds. Decency, Dignity and Discipline. You escalated the situation IMO. I think the fact people even have to ask the question on here is confirmation there is some soul searching happening. I don't think you are an AH because you escalated the situation but who knows what they are going through. Maybe the cop cheated on her? Maybe he just shot someone. Maybe she has an ill family member. Just because someone is going through something or is an AH

    • Dealer Alarmed3632 Many US states have ordinances prohibiting parking in front of or too close to a mailbox, especially during delivery hours. Check your local laws and involve the police. I don't live in an area where it snows, but from what I've read on reddit you people are living some sort of a Lord of the Flies situation based on what everyone thinks the "rules" are.

    • thequiethunter So most places... There are laws against taking a parking spot that you did not clear within the first 24 hours. While the police might not care most of the time... They would certainly nail her with a ticket if she is cussing people out on the street or blocking access to a mail box. NTA
