You will most definitely be shown the door if you show up late on the first day. If you oversleep — even accidentally! — you've blown your only shot at working there. That must be frustrating for management, too. They literally just went through all the trouble of hiring someone and vetting them thoroughly, only for them to mess it up within the first hour.
