This person's in an odd predicament. They claim that their software job requires them to have certain devices, which they used to get shipped to them. Pretty standard, right? Most companies have no problem with sending things in the mail. It's for the worker's convenience, and oftentimes an assistant or someone will manage that task so that the other employee can carry on with their usual day-to-day projects.
For some reason, though, this person's bosses know where they live, and they want them to drive to get their equipment, instead of having it delivered. I mean, okay, weird, but whatever the boss says goes! Malicious compliance it is.

If you won't ship to me because my drive is less than an hour, then I'll make it in an hour

People were quite amused by the boss's wasteful mindset
Some salaried employees make the equivalent of like $30-$60 an hour… and you want to waste that by having them drive around? When you could ship a product either for free or for a few dollars? It's a bad business decision, but it also makes you wonder why they're treating employees this way. Why are they holding onto every penny so tightly? Relax!

Great idea!

This could be a great opener for a conversation with HR if it gets out of hand, too! They could show that they've been keeping data on their little outings, which might show how that time could've been spent better. If the office wants to pay for a leisurely drive, so be it! But higher-ups might be surprised to know that their high-paid workers are spending their 9-5 driving around town.
