    Entitled guy demands 100% of the resale profit from the spare parts that came with his biker girlfriend's recently purchased motorcycle: ‘I bought [the] motorcycle with my own money’

    When a man shows you who he really is, believe him. 

    She purchased a used bike from a seller, and, to sweeten the deal, the seller threw in an extra set of spare parts. However, the moment they got home, the boyfriend believed he was entitled to the spare piping simply because he helped broker the deal. But did he put forward any money to buy them? No. Did he demand 100% of the resale profit from selling his girlfriend's spare motorcycle parts? Yes. 

    And that's where our story begins, and a relationship ends.

    • It's not every day that you meet a lady biker. Few and far between, women who ride motorcycles have a certain reputation that follows them around for either being too terrifying or too meager. Like all things in the world of women, few ladies are actually so extreme, and oftentimes, biker women fall somewhere in the in-between, turning the other way when others expect them to be what they're not. 

      My dad is a biker, a Harley Davidson guy. A while back, he was a salesman for the company and met quite a few lady riders who would come into the shop. Many of them were surprised by how he treated them, with respect and dignity, just like he would the male customers; usually, they told him, that the salesmen at bike shops, mechanics, or even biker bar employees would dial down the respect when talking to a woman biker, but not my dad. 

      Long story short, he made a lot of motorcycle sales to women with whom he shared a mutual respect, and in my experience, that's all a woman wants in a man's world, especially one with revving engines, fat back tires, and open roads.

    • With this interaction, she proved that he didn't value her belongings and certainly didn't value her motorcycle riding. Men will show you their true colors, every now and again, and it's important that you believe them when they do. Although the comment section was divided about this woman's reaction to a man trying to sell off her spare parts, I think she was stupendously gracious to even offer him a 50/50 split. Because in my book, he deserved zilch, zero, nada, and not a scrap more than what he brought to the table: Nothing. 

    • Impossible_Rain_4727 NTA: You wouldn't have the pipes to sell without his negotiating. He wouldn't have had the pipes to sell without your purchase of the motorcycle. A 50/50 split recognises that you wouldn't have had the additional cash without each other's contribution.

    • Morally, it's not quite as simple as that. I think it's hard to say exactly what a fair split would have been to reward him for spotting the opportunity while recognizing that the item was 100% purchased with your money.

    • However, I think we can say with certainty that 50/50 is a reasonable guess, and 0/100 in favor of the finder/negotiator is ludicrous and not within the realm of appropriate answers. So NTA and that guy was being a major one.

    • Successful-Lie1603. The seller threw them in in order to make the sale. You paid the money. They belonged to you. It would have been somewhat churlish to take 100% of the money yourself, since your bf did in fact "get them" for you. Some kind of split would have been fair.
