27 Baffling Design Choices Found in the Wild

Sometimes designs just fail us.

Sometimes we don't make mistakes; mistakes just make us. We all do it, and it's part of what makes us human. If we didn't, then people would be concerned about us. That friend who texts with perfect spelling and grammar all the time? I don't trust them as far as I can throw them. That's not a friend, that's a robot. We all make a typo now and then. I remember learning how to type in computer class in 4th grade. We would put orange silicon covers over the keyboards so we couldn't see the letters, and then take timed tests. Do kids still have to do that, or do they have an intuitive sense of typing because of iPads and such? I bet they can type better than their teachers, given that they've been mining Roblox since birth or whatever.

Either way, I'd like to pick the brain of whoever designed the modern layout of the keyboard. Why the heck are F & J the places where we rest our fingers? What's so good about QUERTY? I've never understood why it isn't alphabetical. I know it has something to do with how often we use the different letters, but I feel like we would have learned either way. But some things are just not for us to understand. Something we just need to accept and then move on.

Or else we will suffer in silence until the end of time, and we can't have that. Anyway, I digress. A typo is forgivable, but these… these are on a different level. These mistakes are baffling on a whole other level. Some of them aren't even worth trying to comprehend; they just exist to confuse us. But sometimes confusion is a beautiful thing, and we should celebrate it more. Confusion is just an opportunity to learn and grow. If we were never confused, then we would understand everything all the time, and we would never do anything new or interesting. So these designs are actually a blessing in disguise.
