Teacher shamed my 7th grader in front of her classmates, and I'm seething. Am I overreacting?

So, while most teachers deserve our utmost respect, some, like the one in this story deserves something else altogether if you ask me. But I’ll leave it at that and let you decide what that thing would be after you read this mother’s story.

When one of the group members complains that she is bossy the teacher immediately sides with the complainer. She does not ask the student for her side she does not check the version history of the Google Doc she does not even pretend to look at the evidence. She just builds a story in her head and sticks with it.

Then the floor party happens. The kids are wandering around loose the teacher is doling out candy like it is a loyalty program. She says she will only give candy to the students who were nice to her. Every kid who walked into the room at some point grabs a piece except the overworked one. She goes up and tries to join the fun and the teacher tells her in front of five to ten classmates that she owes someone an apology. She does not know who that is.

The teacher names the girl who cried about being bossed around and the student is left standing there with no explanation. She is told she has to apologize to that girl in front of the class like it is a public reset button for middle school drama. She walks away empty‑handed while everyone else leaves with candy.

So what does this one teacher deserve?

The mom finds out later and immediately dives into the Google Doc version history. She confirms that the teacher was wrong the student did almost all the work and one of the group members barely did anything and even tried to repaste her work to look like their own. The teacher never asked for proof never checked the data never treated a public shaming like the emotional grenade it is for a pre‑teen whose entire brain is wired to care what their peers think.
