In this story, a woman got exasperated at her mother-in-law after a housewarming gift she gave to her and her husband turned out to be a headache that they didn't need. They didn't have a lot of furniture when they moved in, which led to her MIL offering to gift them a furniture set that would normally be out of their price range.
The couple only agreed to this as the MIL kept pressuring them to, but things quickly got complicated. She claimed that she was not able to finance the furniture in her name because of a disagreement with her partner, meaning they would have to take responsibility. She gave them money for the first payment, but then stopped, and the daughter-in-law informed her that they would not continue paying for it. She wasn't sure if she had taken things too far in her response.
