There are very loving feline friends out there, but these cats are not part of that group. Purrhaps their hoomans just finished eating a big bag of greasy chips, maybe they just want their 20th nap of the day to be peacefully uninterrupted, or purrhaps they're just feline grumpy. When these kitties want their hoomans to pick them up, they will tell them, and 9 times out of 10 it will be within 30 minutes of feeding time.

Cats get overstimulated easily - it's an evolutionary trait that they've evolved over time. Although they don't really need it now that they live all comfortably in our homes (that they pay nothing for), that instinct is still in them. They switch from “Wow, this feels nice!” to “This might be a threat” because like we've said in other posts, cats are both predators and prey in the wild. The ability to switch between a little and too much helps them stay alive in dangerous situations (which they don't have any while lounging in the windowsill soaking up the sun).

If we can maybe teach you something today, it's that cats like human touch because it reminds them of their mother's grooming. Your hand is like a tongue (don't get weird), and this is impurrtant because cats don't groom themselves for long sessions. So, if you pet them for too long, it feels unnatural for them, and they reject it.
