    23-year-old wife demands 24-year-old husband take their 5, 3, 1, and 2-month-old children to school as he recovers from surgery: 'He looked at me like I was joking. I wasn't.'

    These parents of 4 kids under 5 years old can't agree about who should be taking the kids to school each day. 

    They say being a parent is the hardest job out there, and you can easily see why. There are no other jobs like it. You don't get any sick days or days off, your kids won't listen to you even when you're exhausted from getting no sleep ever, and worst of all, even if you're up all night every night, you're still expected to go to work and care for these little creatures. Even if, like this Dad, you get your wisdom teeth yanked, you still have to care for the kiddos — there's simply no break from the action, especially when it's not one baby, but multiple. Even if he and the wife tried to just take 2 kids at a time, it's still exhausting!

      I (23f) and my husband (24m) have 4 kids ages 5, 3, 1, and 2 months. The older two go to school 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.

    • It's an interesting story — but there seem to be bigger problems here than this woman is letting on. It seems like on both sides, there's a lack of empathy going on. They say in a relationship, it's supposed to be a 60/40 split, with each partner trying to care a little extra, aiming for that 60% of effort. You're supposed to both love your spouse and like them, and yet so many people seem to utterly despise the person they're spending their one short life with. And in this person's case, she must like him at least a little bit, because she just had his baby as recently as 2 months ago. But like… why, though? Why have 4 children with a man who won't even care for your kids when you literally give birth, get sick, or have to undergo surgery? What kind of man can't take care of his own children while his wife needs help? 

      I know the internet loves to tell people to leave their spouses, and of course, relationships are far more complex than we know. But I'd urge this woman to consider: if she and the hubby split up and get split custody, they'd both have every other weekend to themselves. Alone. With 0 babies. They could still have a workable relationship, but at least then the husband would be truly forced to reckon with the amount of time and effort he's putting into parenting the children. Much to consider…
