Gentle couple finds tuxedo kitty living in cardboard box in parking lot, they break down when they learn her story of abandonment but immediately take her home

Everyone has a story, even animals. 

It can be heart-wrenching to see an animal in pain or in need. They can't help it, and it can feel like you're responsible for them. The cat in the story below has not had an easy life. This couple found the cat living in a cardboard box in their parking lot. They saw a little bowl of food and water, so someone has been caring for the cat, but probably not enough. They decide to take the cat to the vet, and it's there when they see how the cat has been treated. The poor kitty has an injury on her stomach, revealing that she was probably victim to a hit and run. The couple cries over the cat, and empathizes with her life. They try to do everything in their power to help her, and they start by taking her to their warm home. 

When you find out someone's past, it can really change how you perceive them. Knowing they went through some sort of great struggle, pain, or trauma can make them seem more human in your eyes, make them seem stronger. Going through these things and coming out the other end seemingly okay is not a given. So many people have horrible experiences, but don't change or grow from them. Often times, it makes things worse, and someone can become resentful or mean over bad experiences. But if you're able to see past it, then all the better. This story is one of wholesome and pawsitive outcomes, despite life working against them.
