Employee burnout has several symptoms. Some of you might order Taco Bell multiple times in one week, and that's how you know you've had a stressful time at work recently. Others may put off laundry for a few weeks because they refuse to spend their weekends running errands when they could be sleeping in instead. No judgment on either front; the workforce life is challenging to balance with our social lives. Taco Bell for breakfast and yesterday's pair of jeans? It could be a lot worse…
On that note, though, thank goodness it's Friday. We've spent the entire workweek counting down until this day, and now, our idyllic oasis has arrived. We've made it to the promised land. Friday, our beloved weekday friend, has come to greet us once again. Friday will then hand us off to the better, cooler older sibling, Saturday, and then, like clockwork, Sunday will steal us back and snap us into reality once more. It's fun personifying the weekdays… They're with us, you know, every day.
How do you like to spend your weekends away from the corporate world and your cubicle comrades? Do you sleep until noon and eat breakfast for dinner? Do you try to wake up as early as possible and hit the town with friends, brunch, and all? I suppose it all depends on what mood you're in, the weather your area is experiencing, and how much you prioritize social life over comfort. If you choose to take up a new hobby, more power to you. I have to muster up the energy to crawl to the fridge to eat my leftover… Taco Bell. Anyway…
Whatever way you choose to combat your employee burnout is your prerogative. We all have our vices, friends, and in those vices, we escape from the big part of the world that's filled with work happy hours, ice breakers, and weird holiday parties where everyone has to pretend they're best friends. It could be worse… Scroll below for some TGIF energy.
