41-year-old retires with $200k yearly income, gets irritated when his working wife calls him a loser for playing video games all day: 'She said I'm too old for this'

Society doesn't give people a life script for after they retire, especially if they do it when they're young.

After all, when it was first introduced, the expectation was that most retirees would not live long enough to enjoy the full benefit of their pension. So long as those who retire are healthy and have a reasonable amount of savings, there really is no limit on what they can do if they want to. The world is truly their oyster.

This is even more applicable to those who worked hard and/or got lucky, enabling them to stop working at a time when most of their peers are at their maximum level of grind. They have the privilege to be able to do all those things that those who are still working wish they had the hours in the day for, the kind of stuff that causes real regrets once they are too old for it.

That being said, it is also totally normal to want a break after working hard to reach this goal for so long. The important thing is that the lifestyle is well-adjusted to a person's circumstances, and those around them who may be affected by their retirement.

One man was disappointed to find that his dream was not all that he hoped it would be after he earned enough money to retire at the age of 41. After spending 15 years working towards this point, he felt he was within his rights to relax. During the winter, he spent most of his time playing video games, as well as taking care of the house while his teacher wife was at work.
However, his wife was not happy with how she saw him living his life, claiming that he was being immature and acting like a loser with how he spent his days. He felt frustrated by his attitude, as he didn't see the problem, and he wanted to know what other people thought.
