Adulting is hard. When we were younger, the adult world seemed so enticing, so attractive and mature. It was so seemingly cool to be an adult – buying your own groceries, driving around in your own car, having boyfriends and girlfriends and paying for things with your own money. It seemed so sparkly, and yet, being an actual adult and dealing with all the intensely, violently humbling experiences and responsibilities that come with actual adulting, it's easy to second guess yourself just as it's too late! We were so excited for this, and now we're here and childhood seems a lot more enticing.
Being a kid is so fun and carefree, so much so that many adults are actively regressing into childhood activities. Stuffed animals, toys, dolls, video games, and cartoons are all making a nostalgic comeback for the global world. We're all so exhausted by the world's suffering and constant updates about the pain here, the war there. It's overstimulating, overwhelming, and sometimes we just need to look at photos and memes of teeny tiny animals to take the edge off. From Labubu's, to mindless activities, to adults investing more into their island in Animal Crossing than they are to building an actual home with a wife and kids. But honestly, who said there's anything wrong with that? Animals aren't concerned with buying a home and maybe their mortgage, so why should we?!
There's something absolutely comforting about looking at tiny animals. It's instinctual because it taps into some primal part of our brain that just wants wholesome love and comfort. Like getting a hug from a parent, it's stripped of the gross pain of adulthood, the responsibility of supporting yourself in a failing economy, the impending fear of economic shut downs, or anything else that keeps you up at night. When you can detach from the overwhelming pressures of being a grown up, let go, and happily scroll teeny tiny animal memes absolutely exonerated from the harsh slap in the face of reality then you've basically reached emotional nirvana. So do something cozy, comforting, and nostalgic. Get into your inner child and scroll these hilarious and adorable animal memes.
