French culture has such an air to it. The most common, surface-level stereotypes are that they're fancy, fashionable, snooty, but with good reason. They love good food, good drink, good vacations, and basically the good life. They prioritize pleasure, hedonistic comforts, and philosophical discussions and ponderings to mindless debauchery any day. They don't even make their workers work almost all of the month of August! They're known to working less than "full-time," yet their country seems to run purrfectly well (all things considered). When their government does something they don't like they, they immediately revolt, riot, and rebel against it. They're strong willed and get what they need done when it needs to be done, and in the meantime they're watching birds fly by while they lounge at parks, glass in one hand and baguette in the other.
Cats somehow embody French culture. With their coolness, chic fur style, their blasé attitude and detest for most things not serving them, they're basically French at heart without even trying. Cats love the good things in life, just like a French person. They can be caught reading Camus in their free time, drinking endless cups of coffee, and wasting all their money on salmon filled croissants. They love to lounge about, and can't be bothered to stick their claws out until something makes them. They prefer to watch birds out the windows of their Parisian apartments with pretty wood flooring, embroidered ceilings, and long, see-through soft drapes hanging along those tall windows staring into the streets. Cafes, parks, birds, and fashion all seem to drive the city. For anyone who's been to Paris, it's also covered in cats! Strays have made their presence known and respected in the City of Lights. They're also a cherished pets in around 28% of French households, with popular breeds including Maine Coons, Birmans, and the classic "chat de gouttière" (alley cat). If you grew up on The Aristocats, as so many 90s babies did, then you can't help but put French + cat int he same category. It's almost too easy to pair a cat in a beret. Enjoy these adorable kitties living their best Parisian life.
