Take this manager, for example. Probably foaming from the mouth because she doesn't have access ot a corner office with a big, comfy criss-cross chair, she decides to hijack another employee's desk. Well, it's not exactly their desk, since this office has a policy that makes it so employees put their belongings in lockers and can move from desk to desk each day. A bit experimental, sure. How does this pan out in the grand scheme of things? Most people sit at the same desks every day, without much trouble. After all, you're probably going to want to sit next to your other team members, and you can't do that if Sara the marketing manager wakes up one day wanting to sit at the desk you've populated for nearly two years. The manager in this story's name isn't, but she's basically the hypothetical Sara…
Now, it's easy to visualize a deserved comeuppance in your mind, but it's challenging to actually execute that in the real world. If you're a "lowly" employee, nobody will take what you're saying seriously, especially given the office policy regarding the free desk market. The funny thing? She's been claiming the desk by leaving her belongings on it overnight, which is strictly against policy. Why is it that managerial staff are able to get away with crimes of the workplace? They're more important in the eyes of those C-suite executives who yearn for managers with some grit and command.
The internet has some mixed opinions about this debacle, but both teeter on the line of revenge or payback. This speaks to the nature of certain online forums, where the users who use the platform prefer to deal with situations in a petty way. What do we think of that? We're just content writers, so it's hard to say. Payback sure does make for great content, even if they are simply ideations of payback. Karma is karma, even if hypothetical.
