It's easy to become distressed and put pressure on yourself to purrform and be productive at basically any given moment. Images flash before our eyes, we see endless media all day everyday and it's enough to cause anyone to have expectations of grandeur, delusions of all kinds, constantly comparing ourselves to everyone else making art, creating content, or being a baddie at whatever it is they do. We forget to be gentle with ourselves sometimes. It's so easy to put pressure on ourselves not just to give to work, production, or hobbies, but also to other people. Social expectations can be the bain of anyone's existence if they let it.
Sometimes all someone needs to a bit of alone time, a bit of rest, a bit of locking out of expecting themselves to purrform. No one can do everything at once, no one can go on continually without a break or rest, and our cats are there to remind us to let go of expectations. The only thing our cats expect from us are to feed them their favorite tuna every now and again, and of course to give them warm snuggles in this cold winter weather. They wake us up everyday with their soft purrs humming on top of us, already having pushed us to the brink and edge of the bed. We just don't want to disturb them! Their cutesy morning meows are essentially our alarm clock, and what better way to wake up than with whimsical animals instead of the beeping of your phone?
Through their capricious chaos, mischievous naughtiness, and cattitude reticence, their love really does go a long way. The love they give you at the end of your busy work day isn't comparable to the success of getting a job done, or the pride of success at work. It's so much more rewarding to experience kitty cat affection than anything a 9-5 will give you. So remember what's important in life, remember to be gentle with yourself, and remember that once in a while you're supposed to lock out instead of locking in.
