The company rescinded my offer after I left my old job, so I wrote them a bad review on Glassdoor and now they're begging me to remove it.

I'm in a really big mess right now and I had to share what happened. I went through 3 interviews with this company, and they sent me an official offer less than an hour after the last one.

I was overjoyed because it was a 50% salary increase from my previous job. So I accepted immediately, signed all the hiring paperwork from HR about 10 days ago, and resigned from my old company.

Three days later - meaning 8 days after I signed the official offer - I got a cold email.

It said that due to a 'sudden restructuring, the position has been eliminated' and they couldn't proceed, but they would keep my information on file.

I was literally shocked. I just left my job for them! I immediately called my old manager to see if there was any way to take back my resignation, but she told me that HR had already finalized the process and it was completely out of her hands.

So now I'm unemployed because this company screwed me over. I was so angry, so I went on Glassdoor and wrote a detailed one-star review, explaining exactly how they operate and how they left me jobless.

This morning, I got a call from someone in their HR asking me to please remove the review because it's 'damaging their reputation'.

Honestly, I don't feel one percent guilty. They're the ones who left me without a job in the end.

darlo0161 Do NOT change that review. Add to it that you were approached to remove it. Name and Shame

Reasonable-Rub2243 They didn't rescind an offer, they fired you. Tell them you'll remove the review if they pay you three month's severance. Also, apply for unemployment!

SainburyL71 Don't change the review. That company earned it. And others should be warned.
  • 14
Significant-Crow-974 Leave it on please. Other people need to know what happened as you would have appreciated knowing before your application.

tnmoi Yes, DO NOT REMOVE. They will threaten to sue. Let them and counter sue for the harm they have inflicted on you. Lost wages and livelihood for the foreseeable future! In your case, it is really easy to prove. Make sure you did not put down emotions in your review. Just state facts. Interviews on dates 1, 2, 3. Offer letter received at this date. Signed offer on x date. Signed onboarding paperwork on this date. Received retraction on this date via email. Then received a phone call to remove

Jackalope_Sasquatch Do NOT remove the review. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Magic_Neil “Hi (HR person), thank you for reaching out! Is there something that is factually incorrect with my review? I'm sorry if this is reflecting poorly, but this was my honest and candid experience. It's regretful that the 'sudden restructuring' created the situation that we both face, hopefully in the future that doesn't happen.. leaving your company with poor employee experiences, and me without a job.

gilbert10ba If that's how they operate, they deserve the review you gave them. As long as you're just stating the facts they can't do anything.

TonalContrast Don't change the review. Contact a lawyer for proper advice as you may have a claim against the company. I had this happen very early in my career and one letter from my lawyer got their attention and a settlement was negotiated.

sharkieshadooontt Its 2026 PEOPLE!!! WE ARE NOT GIVING NOTICE, EVER. YOU USE YOUR PTO TO START THE NEW JOB AND CONFIRM ITS NOT A BAIT AND SWITCH AND THEN QUIT. Or YOU GO BACK TO YOUR OTHER JOB IF IT DIDNT WORK OUT.

SnooCupcakes4075 Easy to fix, they replace your income for the duration of your unemployment since it was caused by them. They get the bad review removed (for now), you get the time you need to move past their idiocy. Or they can find you a spot like the one they rug-pulled on you...........
