Good morning, cat lovers. Coffee and cats go so well together – like peanut butter and jelly, chicken and waffles, shoes and socks, salt and pepper, Batman and Robin, and Tom and Jerry. The thing about coffee is that it wakes you up. All that caffeine you're drinking is sure to purk you right up and get you lively and adjusted to start your day! Caffeine works by blocking adenosine receptors in our brains; these receptors are responsible for the "sleepy" feeling you get when you didn't enter REM or get a good night's rest. So sleepy receptor blocked = you can actually feel more alert. But too much can be too much, as it's a stimulant to the central nervous system, just like your cat is!
Your cat also purks you up. With meows in your ear and paws poking your face all to get a bit of breakfast while you're still wandering dream land. Cats may also cause destruction to toilet paper, door frames, or anything else you may have lying about, so be careful. And like coffee, cats have something cool about them. There's an aesthetic that coffee just instinctively possesses. By no stretch of the imagination we can all picture coffee alongside jazz, cafes, a beret, and black clothing. It's basically screaming cool. Cats have that cool factor too – their capricious natures, their nonchalant mischief, and the slow-blink are all factors that have us saying….wow, what a cool cat.
So now that we've established the similarities between cats and caffeine, we can talk about the differences. Well, it's obvious, isn't it? You can't drink your cat! Stop trying to eat him! But what you can do is consume cats in other forms, like memes!
