Finding a cat right before Christmas feels like a message from the universe. He appears at the end of the year when Christmas joy is all around and people are getting into the holiday spirit. Around Christmas time, everything can easily feel more magical, even heavier with meaning. He had a collar, which would make anyone assume he had loving owners who conceivably lost their precious cat. Someone had cared for him once. Someone had named him, pet him, made him feel loved. The right person would put the effort in to finding his long lost home – calling humane societies, posting on social media, asking the neighbors, and calling shelters. But after all the work, no one came looking and no one claimed him. He waited too.
He lingered outside, he was around your door and knew it was a good home. Maybe it's because he saw four other cats! Anyone who's willing to take on four cats is a cat person, someone who really cares and wants to give the cats a good home. Four cats is already a full house! Four sets of bowls, four personalities, four routines carefully balanced, and four different meows to understand who's speaking. Taking in another cat isn't a small feat, it's absolutely a big responsibility. But he wanted in, and he made his presence known. The couple immediately clocked him and wanted to do something about it. They weren't about to give up easily.
When no one claimed him they knew they had to do something. They took him to the vet so that he could at least be a healthy boy. They've brought other stray cats home before, and saw how badly that turned out, so they weren't about to be in the same situation again. But they tried. Maybe it was because of the holidays, the Christmas cheer, and end of the year and the feeling of goodness in the air. But they brought home the cat, and their other four liked him! They all immediately fell in love, and they were able to keep this little kitty.
