This is going to sound so silly. My cat Xilo is super affectionate and she'll continuously ram the top of her head into someone's mouth to get some kisses. Im talking ten minutes of head bunting on the low end.

After six years of this, I call her over with kissy noises. Ask for kisses with kissy noises, or sometimes "can I have a kiss?"

Somewhere along the road, she learnt the word 'kiss'. Now when I'm watching a movie or talking to friends and the word is mentioned, or a smooch sound is made, she bounds over and starts shoving her head in my

face. If I'm standing she'll jump on me and climb on to my shoulder so she can reach. It's cute, really, but if she can't reach me or I wasn't the one to make the sound she'll do it to whoever she can reach/whoever made the sound or said the word.

Problem is, I'm moving in with a friend who's mildly allergic to cats. he can live with them fine, but can't have her shoving her face in his. How do I make her stop?

Edit: it's not as much the word kiss as it is the kissy noises. My friends got a boyfriend, and whenever I've hosted hangouts with our friend group they can't get away with a peck without her

jumping at them. Feels pretty unfair to tell him he can't kiss his boyfriend at our place instead of training (or rather, un-training) my cat. I'm genuinely looking for advice on how I can get her to stop without having to stop giving her her kisses when she asks nicely lol

Another edit: I'm gonna consider this one solved, thanks for all the advice! Still gonna keep it up for my future reference and your viewing of her launching for kisses in the comments :p

novaexec23 If she is put down on the floor (before the head- bunting starts) she should learn soon that the head- bunting is not appreciated. But you have to enforce a consistent message. Eventually the cat will get it.

NextLifeAChickad... As the kitty approaches, just have him hurry and put out his hand to start petting her head before it gets too close (and kindly push back as petting). Positive petting with an alterior motive. Your cat will still feel loved, and your friend can maintain space, then wash his hand.

I'm not allergic, but sometimes I need space from all the loves. I redirect them to sit next to me instead of on me, etc. They will learn. Also, remember that cats learn best with redirection and positive reinforcement.
