As expected, when the author banished his mother-in-law from entering their home again after she discarded his wife's inherited furniture without permission, several extended family members began to take sides on this issue. Surprisingly, enough people somehow felt that the mother-in-law was entitled to do what she did, or that she should, at the very least, be quickly forgiven.
We feel differently on the matter. This lady knew exactly what she was doing, and she should only be forgiven if she confesses to being responsible for the missing furniture. If those pieces are still hers, she should immediately return them to their daughter. Otherwise, this couple has the right to say who can and cannot drop by their home, even if it means that the mother-in-law's relationship with her grandchild will now be in jeopardy. Perhaps she should have thought about that before she stole property that did not belong to her in the first place.

"[Am I wrong] for banning a relative from our house right after they donated our furniture while we were away home?"
